I am a nature and wildlife photographer living on Maryland’s Eastern Shore on the Chesapeake Bay. I began my photographic journey over 20 years ago as the emergence of digital cameras made learning photography more accessible to non-professionals. My first DSLR camera was the Nikon D70. My initial interest was large format landscape photography. I was fortunate to work for a national medical professional society that conducted regular business meetings at premier travel destinations throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.

In 2005, I traveled on business to Jackson Hole, Wyoming where I was inspired by the magnificent galleries of nature photographers Thomas Mangelsen and David Brookover. I was hooked. Over the next 20 years, as I continued to I travel extensively on business to premier resort locations, major scenic cities and national parks I always had my camera along as I continued to hone my skills.

When not traveling, I was actively photographing the many sites and attractions around the Washington, DC area, including the major monuments, national government buildings like the Capitol and the White House, and the the wildlife at the National Zoo. I also photographed major events around DC such as the annual 4th of July fireworks on the mall, the Cherry Blossoms, the changing of the guard at Arlington National Cemetery, and the inauguration of Barak Obama in 2013.

Between 2014-2017, along with my brother Bill, I photographed the scenic desert Southwest and Colorado Plateau, including Saguaro National Park, the North and South Rims of the Grand Canyon, and the major national parks in Utah — Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Zion, and Bryce Canyon along with Monument Valley and the Valley of the Gods.

After many years of travel related photography and as I approached retirement my interest and focus shifted to wildlife, particularly birds. Living along the Atlantic flyway made this attractive as I soon discovered I was surrounded by wildlife - at least avian wildlife. the primary photographic interests is wildlife. For a few years, I focused on the bird sanctuaries and hot spots around the Washington-Maryland area. But I soon realized that to diversify my portfolio, I’d have to travel and that to strengthen my skills, I could benefits from some professional coaching. I did both, traveling to Florida, New Mexico and Utah and getting one-on-one coaching from Isaac Grant. In 2025, I traveled to Tanzania, Africa for a 10-day workshop on the Serengeti led by Steve Perry where I photographed over 30 bird species even though birds were not the focus.

Going forward, I’ll be continuing to pursue new opportunities to photograph the natural world and sharing my journey with others of similar interest via this website and my social media postings. I hope you enjoy my photos as much as I did creating them.
